This is our debut print with Minneapolis-based illustrator Emma Eubanks. We've been admiring her exciting artwork for a while and are thrilled to be producing and releasing this gem. In her own words...
"I wanted to offer up a lot of stories, so I took inspiration from the ones that fascinate me, like Ancient Greek mythology and cryptid sightings, as well as epic tales like Paradise Lost and Journey to the West.
This print is full of classic fables existing alongside each other like they do in the public consciousness, but in a more Animal House-ish way, set in a cave/castle in the clouds. Many of the “rooms” include narratives that have shaped our relationship with history and the unknowns of the world, and I tried to put my spin on them in a way that feels light and fun.
I’ve been obsessed lately with learning that gerbils probably spread the Black Plague, so gerbil-adjacent creatures pop up all over this print in a little Where’s Waldo homage. This print is a Frankenstein’s monster of historical references as they exist (inaccurately) in my head, and my hope is that people feel invited to come up with stories of their own when they see it!"

More about Emma: Emma Eubanks is an illustrator and designer in Minneapolis, MN. She spends her time drawing people and dance floors in as many color combinations as she can dream up.
