It's that time of year again... Minneapolis' own Doomtree crew is taking over the city for the ninth year straight with sold out shows at Triple Rock Social Club and First Avenue's mainroom. We were asked to design and screenprint a poster to commemorate the festivities and here she is... one creature face for each year, designed by Mike Davis and screenprinted in super bright colors on French Pop-Tone Hot Fudge paper by Ben LaFond. Grab one at any of the remaining First Avenue Blowout 9 shows or in our online store in early January 2014!
Here are a few rough sketches from the creative process...

Minneapolis-based rapper and friend of Burlesque Stef Alexander, known better as P.O.S, needs a kidney transplant. Designer Emmanuel Mauléon of Minnesota Vice put together this 4 color poster which we're screenprinting to help raise funds for Stef's medical bills.
The poster will be at First Avenue this Friday for P.O.S' album release show. Can't make it? Read More
Between the 4th and 10th of December, Minneapolis' own almighty Doomtree crew fully stomped seven new holes into First Avenue and 7th Street Entry. After 5 straight sold out nights in the Entry featuring dozens of local and national acts, the crew united for 2 sold out nights in the mainroom. That's right - one whole f*cking week!

Hungry? Watch the latest episode of Shake 'N Bake and you will be. Our buds Eunice, Doomtree's P.O.S, and Broken Crow's John Grider are cookin' up a nice big batch of donuts. High five to John for rockin' our Censored Rap Video shirt! Pay close attention to the tunes that Get Cryphy DJs / BRLSQ male models Last Word and Plain Ole Bill are dropping throughout the video. Very clever, those two.

Our friends Doomtree have released their latest album "No Kings," just in time for their seventh annual Blowout concert at First Avenue. The whole crew is taking over 5 straight nights in the 7th Street Entry and 2 nights in the mainroom. With the help of friends like Brother Ali, Astronautalis, Sage Francis, Kill The Vultures, Andrew Broder, I Self Devine, Ice Rod, and even Hannibal Burress, the crew is really doing something special with these nights.
After weeks and weeks bringing their high-powered rap variety show across all points of North America, Minneapolis' beloved Doomtree crew brought it all back home to First Avenue for their sixth annual Blowout.
Wings and teeth and exploding paint tubes! Todd Bratrud comes through with this killer design just for the art show. Ben LaFond printed it in a whole rainbow of different colors, chosen for you at random by the Burlesque crew. You really can't go wrong with any of these colors! Feel the explosion!

Are we better off than we were 8 years ago? It's time to get these elephant bozos out of Washington before they rot our country back to the stone ages. This poster was designed by Mike Davis for the Eight Is Enough conert in St. Paul MN, held just days before the 2008 Republican National Convention kicked off in the same city. Twin Cities musical artists Low, Dosh, P.O.S, and Burlesque's own DJs Winship and Mike 2600 had the Turf Club bursting at the seams with hopeful young rock and rap enthusiasts for what all considered to be a huge success of a rock show!

This poster was created for one of our SXSW 2008 events, a collaborative showcase between Modern Radio Records and Burlesque. A bunch of our favorite Modern Radio acts and other Twin Cities groups played an outdoor showcase down in Austin and rocked it in the pocket. BRLSQOTHEQUE DJs (Mike 2600 & Wezz Winship) spun rap and funk tunes inbetween sets. The artwork for the print was a three-way collaboration between Burlesque's Wes and Mike and our talented friend Dan Black from Landland.
