Signs & Visuals of Cambodia and Laos
I'm wrapping up the last few days of a long ass trip around the Southeast corner of the globe. Aside from enjoying the food, nature, history, and lack of snow, I've also been taking tons of photos of signs and other visually-inspiring imagery. Here are some things that caught my eye in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Cambodia, and Luang Prabang, Laos.

I was getting a lot of funny looks snapping a photo of this emblem on the side of a trash can just outside Phnom Penh's Central Market. Totally worth it.

Hawaiian Pileup
Well the weather sucks across most of the mainland US right now, so my wife and I decided to get the F outta town. We're in Kaua'i right now and have been enjoying the weather, food, and the scenery. Duh. I've been keeping my eyes open for sign, logos and other interesting design inspiration out here, so here are a few little bits that I've encountered. Many more to come!

Here's the inaugural entry in a new series of interviews with some of our favorite artists, designers, musicians, printers, and anyone else we feel deserves to have your attention. We're kicking it off with a graphic artist who landed in our radar zone recently and blew us away with his gorgeous posters and other design work. Ladies and gentlemen, we would now like to shine our spotlight on James White from Signalnoise.

Gurafiku
I've been exploring Gurafiku, an online archive of Japanese graphic design. The site allows you to view work split up by decade and there are a lot of fantastic posters, book covers, and more collected here. Take a moment to look around. Here are a few of my favorites:

Louis & Gilbert's Hotel Cocktails

2 1980-era newspaper advertisements designed by Robert Miller for Louis & Gilbert's pre-mixed cocktail concoctions. These scream 1880 just as much as they do 1980.

Thanks to everyone who helped make my interview with Michael Manoogian the all-time most popular post on this blog. To show our appreciation, here's an extra dose of sketch images sent over by the lettering legend. Enjoy and spread the word!
