We love music. We love funny stuff. It was with zero hesitation that we accepted the offer to design and print two posters for two live performances by New Zealand's Flight of the Conchords. THE MELVINS / JUXTAPOZ
In the tradition of the last set of Melvins/Grumpy's shows in Minneapolis, Haze XXL of Grumpy's, AmRep and Ox-Op Gallery asked us to team up with Aesthetic Apparatus to design 7" covers and posters for the Juxtapoz Group Openings at the SooVAC and Ox-Op galleries last weekend.

Of course, we love the Melvins, we love Juxtapoz, who were we to refuse? With line art by Horkey setting up the awesome double-central-image and then free reign
on either side for ourselves and AA, we've come up with our second diptych poster.

Four colors, two posters at 18.5"x25" on French paper, and you're gonna get the set of two. Matching numbers, with signatures, stamps, and
numbers on the back of each. Available only as sets, you can get these
posters either here or over at aestheticapparatus.com (same price both
places, ours includes shipping, theirs doesn't).

THE REST IS UP TO YOU PRINT
We are super happy to be publishing and printing an art print designed by the über-talented Tyler Stout! Almost a year ago, Tyler created this fantastic illustration, intended for the front cover of Cohen Morano's art book "The Rest is Up to You" (signed copies available here). The publisher ended up using something else for the cover (bummer!) and we jumped at the chance to produce Tyler's incredible illustration of Cohen and his wild imagination!

Each print is hand-embellished by Cohen, who brought the entire run of posters to life with wild and brightly-colored splashes of watercolor paint. No two are like!

The prints are also signed and numbered by Cohen and Tyler Stout in an edition of 150.

JOHN BAIZLEY "RED ALBUM" ART PRINT
We're thrilled to be releasing this art print designed by the talented John Dyer Baizley. You might recognize his artwork from the album covers of his awesome rock group Baroness. This print is based on the cover art from Baroness' "Red Album," but in a unique green colorway.

These prints are signed and numbered by John Baizley in an edition of 200. Unfortunately most of the prints were slightly dinged up in the bottom right corner during shipping. Thankfully the bumps are minor (less than 1/2") and do NOT affect the image area at all. With a frame, the ding will go unnoticed.

ARIK ROPER "THE SIGHTING"
To some, Arik Roper needs no introduction. His work has become the look of the resurgence of heavy sludge and psych music the world has felt over the past decade. We've been fans of Arik's work for quite a while and have printed several of his posters starting with the Sunn0)) and Boris spring 2006 tour poster. When our buddy Mitch from postersandtoys.com approached us about an Arik Roper art print joint production, we jumped at the chance.

Here's what Arik has to say about the print: "The Sighting illustrates a metaphor of gaining insight and perspective from a new position. The Ice Age-era hunter and his Wolf companion represent the Mind in its unadvanced stages, wandering and laboriously ascending the mountain in search of nourishment. The floating Apparition represents the Revelation flash of the advanced Mind, gained from the new point of view and progress on the mountain. The encounter initially appears as a meeting of two separate entities but is ultimately a meeting with the self.”

CHE-BACCA
Some artwork is based upon a very deep and thought-provoking conceptual premise. Sometimes, it's a picture of 1/2 Che Guevara and 1/2 Chewbacca the Wookie. We're not sure into which category this new poster from Aye Jay! falls, but we know we love it and are certain you will too.

LA FAMILIA
There are two main audiences for this newest example of Todd Bratrud's art print prowess: those who are really stoked about Steve Nesser returning to the Twin Cities and opening La Familia Skate shop and those who want to put a lovely piece of art on their walls that will help their cranially conjoined twin children with a stabbing problem feel that they are a normal, integrated part of society - so much so, in fact, that their ilk have been immortalized in high culture. Okay, maybe there's a third audience: those of you whole love vaguely twisted and totally kick ass art prints, especially those that are drawn by Bratrud, screenprinted in 6 full colors by Winship, signed and numbered on the front in an edition of 101, and so very scarce that Burlesque only has like 20 of 'em to sell. LEWIS BLACK
Commissioned by local comedy record label maven Dan Schlissel (the man born with a pre Snoop-a-fied last name) for Lewis's annual trip to our neighboring state of Wisconsin. We had never heard of this band before they contacted us to do a poster. They sent us some CDs, showered us with compliments, and managed to get us on the phone so we said "What the hey" and did it. SUNN0))) / BORIS
MAY 2006 TOUR

Okay, I have to admit, you're sitting there rocking out to Boris (in a manner probably resembling a seizure, given the constraints of chair-rocking) and you're like,"This seriously can't get any cooler. How could it? The rocking is unstoppable!" But then, Boris is done, you're like, "Okay, I'm fully rocked... what next?" And then the whole place goes black except for a slight part in the giant two-story tall black velvet stage curtains, and smoke, piles of smoke, starts pouring out of that glowing blue gap in the
curtains, and the ground starts shaking and you're fairly sure that somewhere else in the museum (did I mention that, in this little flight of
fancy, you're currently ensconced in the womb-like theater of the new Walker Arts Center in Minneapolis? Cuz you are...) there's like a giant
priceless sculpture crashing to the floor and shattering into a million pieces, and, well, you're in the presence of Sunn O))).

So, yeah... umm, Aaron and Wes made a poster. It's quite large and has a thistle on it and
it took 10 screens to print the sucker and it's for sale at the deliciously evil price of $36.66 and you should check it out. 8 colors (10 screens!). Edition of 212 (160 unsigned, unnumbered ones were sold on tour), s/n on the front, stamped Black Osprey on the back. Limit of 2 per customer (if you're already a subscriber, you can only order 1).

A word of caution: Aaron called to say that UPS
had dropped one box on its corner, resulting in a small crinkle (1)(2) on one corner of the majority of the prints. Aaron assured us that it will be framed-out easily by any matte and should not be a problem. We're showing you the worst of the batch. The crinkle is barely noticeable on most of the posters.

RACEBANNON
With a US tour in full swing and Europe up next, Racebannon are on the takeover, with the Gospel at their sides, and Horkey jumped at the chance to do an old-style freeform-splatter-psych workup for them. Anyways, Erik had us do the posters for the two Chicago shows they were playing. He said "Why don't you do two posters that when you put them together form on big image?" So that's what we did. KHANATE & EARTH w/ ASVA
They should have called these shows "Clash of the Titans" or "Monsters of Rock" but wait, that would have been played out. Mr. O'Malley from Sunn0))) and Khanate asked us if we'd like to do a poster for these special shows in Portland, OR and Seattle, WA. Khanate's music makes slow an extreme by placing so much space between each scream, drum hit, and guitar chord that you feel the music just might cave in on you. Earth is the infamous Dylan Carson. He, and at times with collaborators that have included Kurt Cobain and Joe Preston, has created some of the most influential guitar drone that the kids are so crazy about these days. Asva is a new band made up of ex-members of Burning Witch, Sun City Girls, Mr. Bungle and a shit load of others. All signs point to Doom!

It actually felt like you could lean in and be supported by the sound. You know, like when you do those trust seminars and they make you close your eyes and just fall over and the group catches you?
