Flatstock 27 @ Bumbershoot!

2010 Sep by Burlesque of North America

Back in Minneapolis after yet another successful Flatstock at Seattle's Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival! These poster conventions/music events are always a little overwhelming. So much to do & see, all crammed into a very short amount of time. I tried to sneak away during the work part of the day every once in awhile to capture some music shots & various Bumbershoot moments. Clickclickclick as fast as possible, then rush back to the Burlesque Flatstock booth to hustle those posters. Big thanks to the Larsen Family for putting us up again this year. So much appreciated! Here's a handful of some of my favorite shots from the weekend. Feast your eyes on the entire set of photos HERE. Booker T. Jones! Napping For America! Mike Davis Ollies! Georgia Anne Muldrow! Ozomatli!

soooooooo, im working on a special little project that im not at liberty to speak about JUST yet... while looking for some older drawings for this special little project, i found a folder of drawings from 1989! in 1989 i was in grade 8, had JUST got my first skateboard and was quickly becoming obsessed. the skateboard graphics i was being exposed to in the pages of Thrasher Magazine made me want to learn to draw... what you are about to look at are a few VERY early skateboard driven attempts at drawing, i have lots more, but these are pretty funny/fun for me to look at and remember pretending to be doing schoolwork when really i was drawing junk like this...

TIMES IS WEIRD.

2009 Dec by Burlesque of North America

i was about to tap-in with some of my own ""2009"" stuff, but as it turns out i have H1N1 so my brain is functioning even crummier than usual. sooooooo, this is what you get... i set up a dumb little tumblr page a bit ago to let my family and friends see where i was and what i was up to. its actually the Rated G version of what im up to  as my relatives look at it and i doubt they would approve of even a fraction of the stupid shit i do to amuse myself. at any rate, this is my half assed attempt at talking a little about the last few months of MY 2009 filtered through a little swine flu... click the image below or the following link to visit...  TIMES IS WEIRD THESE DAYS stay tuned for much more of the same in 2010.

Grace From Falling x Fuko

2009 Jun by Burlesque of North America

ill try keep this short and to the point, altho there are a few points so ill just do my best... Grace From Falling is a project that myself and Shingo (the eyes and ears of BRLSQ in Japan) have started as a vehicle to make handfuls of odd ideas into actual physical objects that you can buy and love for the rest of your life! sound good? yup, you are right, it IS good. first thing out the gates is this Poster i designed for our friend Fuko who because of her modeling has become a bit of an icon in Japan and soon to be the world. if you already get the BRLSQ news letter (if not, see above and get you some), you know all the details, but just to be safe, here's everything you need to know... Going on sale this weekend ONLY IN JAPAN is Todd Bratrud's art print commissioned for Japanese model and mega-celebrity FUKO. The first in Grace From Falling's ""Idol x Art"" project, the posters were printed here at Burlesque and signed both by Bratrud and by Fuko herself. 5 color print on French Parchtone Relic Gold paper. 63 x 45.8cm ¥6,800 + ¥840 shipping in Japan (¥2,500 international) For purchase information, visit gracefromfalling.com

NO PROBLEM MON!

2009 Apr by Burlesque of North America

i had to dip outta the states for a minute and get back to my roots with some raw watercolor paintings, best place to REALLY watercolor paint the way God intended you ask? the Cayman Islands... expect not to see any of the paintings i make anywhere ever, im stuffing each painting into a empty bottle then throwing that bottle to the hammerhead sharks that patrol the waters of this place. its like one of those time capsules, once the greys come and vaporize our little planet in a few weeks, they will find my paintings in the bellies of... alright, ive been alone in the hot sun on hidden beaches for far too long, im outta here. werd life. if you wanna see some of whats been going on, follow this link... click HERE, HERE and HERE for more.

Wings?

2009 Feb by Burlesque of North America

i got axed to do this little project for RedBull a little bit back, the thing was to create 250 pieces of art for RedBull to use as Valentines Day gifts for a bunch of the people they deal with in one way or another. so what i did was make 6 x 6 inch screen prints of the black line art for 8 different hearts with banners that were left empty. i then hand painted each and every one of them and wrote something different in each banner, a bit of an undertaking, but in my eyes it was worth it. i didnt get photos of any of them on their own, but Kelli from RedBull sent me this photo of the group as a whole, figured id share it with alla y'all... Melvins super pack going onsale at 2pm our time today...

2009 Jan by Burlesque of North America

A lot of people have been inquiring about the special Melvins stuff we recently produced and when it was going to be made available on the site. Well, the time is nigh! If this came as a surprise to you, then it means you aren't on our awesome mailing list that hips peeps to such nuggets of info. Or maybe your email changed and you didn't update with us. Well, all you have to do to fix the situation is send an email to: orders@burlesquedesign.com requesting to be added to our mailing list. We'll get you added on and we can put all this ugliness behind us. BONUS: The people have spoken! We are now selling the items from the combo packages individually! Only want the shirt? Boom. Only want the 3CD set and not the shirt? Boom.
